On Friday afternoon, 25 December 2015, a special one-hour fellowship was given concerning the present move of the Lord to care for the refugees in Europe, especially those who have migrated into Germany, and to strengthen the Lord’s testimony in Germany.

Because of security considerations [e.g. safety of the refugees in the video], we have asked the leading ones in the churches to do their best to limit the viewing of this special fellowship to the churches and the saints in the Lord’s recovery. If you wish to watch or download the video, please fill up this online form to request access.

We may respond to the fellowship and participate in the Lord’s move by praying, giving and going. Please pray

  • that the Lord will raise up the workers to be sent into this harvest;
  • that the churches and saints in Germany would be encouraged and revived;
  • that many Muslins and Europeans would receive the gospel and be brought into the church life;
  • that the saints in the Lord’s recovery would lay hold of this development in the world situation for the building of God’s house.

For our going, especially for the seven 2-week gospel trips, and giving, please please refer to this handout (pdf) for additional details.

  • After the special fellowship on 25 December, further fellowship was given regarding the need to print more copies of the Recovery Version New Testament in German for free mass distribution among the German-speaking people. Those who wish to donate for that purpose should give to Living Stream Ministry according to the instructions in the handout.

2016 Working Saints Retreat (11/4-11/6)

This year’s NorCal Working Saints Retreat will take place from Friday, November 4, through Lord’s Day, November 6, at the Redwood Christian Park (RCP) camp, located at 15000 Two Bar Road, Boulder Creek, California. As in previous years, Brother Minoru will join us for the retreat.

Registration for the retreat is now open. Saints can register online at the following page: http://youngworkingsaints.org/ events/norcal-working-saints-r etreat-2/ The registration deadline is Thursday, October 20. We encourage the saints to register early ahead of the deadline.

As a clarification, there are three main categories of registration—full-time, part-time, and day-time—with the corresponding fees for adults and children (ages 4 through 18):

  • Full-time—staying both Friday and Saturday nights: Adults: $170 per person Children (ages 4–18): $40 per person
  • Part-time—staying only one night (either Friday or Saturday night but not both): Adults: $120 per person Children (ages 4–18): $40 per person
  • Day-time—coming during the day only with no overnight stay: Adults (Saturday Only): $40 per person Adults (Lord’s Day Only): $30 per person Children (ages 4–18): $20 per person

The registration is free for children ages 3 and younger.

We feel that the Lord truly used last year’s working saints retreat to speak a particular word to all the working saints in this region. We fully look forward to what the Lord will speak and do in this year’s retreat. As such, we hope that as many of the working saints as possible can do their best to make this year’s retreat and would not let the potential financial burden of registration fee hinder them from participating in the retreat. If there are some who have financial difficulty in paying for the registration fee, we encourage them to fellowship with the leading brothers in their respective localities.

The registration website also provides the option for working saints to make an offering to cover the registration fees of some needy saints who may not have the financial means to do so. We believe this is a wonderful opportunity for us all to participate in the grace of material offerings as both a sweet-smelling savor to God and a fellowship in the Body.

Finally, we ask all the saints to pray much for this year’s retreat, that the Lord may prepare the working saints to receive His timely speaking for His move in Northern California.

A Word of Truth Concerning Halloween

June 28, 2015 | Posted by jamesshau in Uncategorized - (0 Comments)

A Word of Truth                                  .pdf | 中文

We felt it appropriate to share with the saints the truth concerning Halloween. The church does not endorse or encourage the participation by the children in any events associated with Halloween.

Halloween has absolutely nothing to do with Christ and the Church. It is pagan in nature, originating more than 2,500 years ago in pre-Roman Britain as a pagan Celtic festival. In fact, when the Romans conquered the Celts, activities were added which are still practiced today. In the seventh century, Pope Gregory I advised the (Roman Catholic) church leadership to adapt the pagan customs during this time of the year. In his letter he wrote, “If the people are allowed some worldly pleasures in this way, they will more readily come to desire the joys of the spirit.” In A.D. 731, Pope Gregory III began the festival of “All Saints,” or “All Hollows” to honor all the dead saints believed to be in heaven. The eve of All Hollows (All Saints Day) came to be called Halloween. Customs associated with this holiday were brought to America in the late 1800’s by Irish Catholic immigrants. Practices associated with this day include trick or treat, costumes, pumpkins with carved out faces (jack-o-lanterns) and bonfires just to mention a few.

The Bible presents a clear speaking regarding this day and the practices associated with it: Fortune telling and divination are condemned (Deut. 18:9-14); contact with the dead is condemned (I Samuel 28:7-8); I Chronicles 10:13-14); contact with evil spirits is condemned (Leviticus 19:31). So what should our attitude in the church be? We reject anything related to the Devil or demons. We reject anything related to heathen religions. We reject any mixture or confusion of worldly or Christianity practices in the church life.

As saints in the Lord’s recovery we have been delivered out of the authority of darkness, the kingdom of Satan and transferred into the kingdom of Christ (Col. 1:13; Acts 26:18). We are now not darkness, but light in the Lord, so we must walk as children of light (Eph. 5:8; I Jn 1:7). We must not bring anything associated with Satan into our houses, but we must make a thorough clearance of all such things (Deut. 7:26; Acts 19:19). And above all, we must love the Lord and hate evil (Psalm 97:10).

We pray that all the saints and their children would be empowered by the Lord to stand against this evil day and encourage our children to do so, as well. May the Lord continue to supply us with His abounding grace.
